Dr. Dory Green headshotSome dentists chose their path in a classroom. Dr. Dory Green found hers between a microscope and the theater. Long before she was crafting smiles in Fort Lauderdale, she was crafting special effects props in a theater workshop at the University of Miami, pursuing a pre-med track on one side of campus and a passion for hands-on creation on the other. When her academic advisor pointed out how much time she was spending in the workshop, Dr. Green pushed back. She wasn’t wasting her time if she loved what she was doing. Her advisor’s suggestion? Dentistry might be the perfect place where science and hands-on artistry come together. After shadowing a dentist during her junior year, she never looked back.

Dr. Green earned her B.S. from the University of Miami and her DMD from Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, one of the most respected dental programs in the country. She then completed a hospital-based General Practice Residency at Virtua Health in Camden, NJ, where she gained advanced training in complex extractions, graft placement, molar endodontics, and implant restoration before returning home to Florida to build a career centered on comprehensive dental care.

Today, she brings that full depth of training to every patient who walks through the doors of DG Dental in Fort Lauderdale.

Education and Credentials That Go Beyond the Basics

Great dentistry doesn’t stop at graduation. Dr. Green has spent her entire career investing in continuing education and clinical mastery, earning her Fellowship with the Academy of General Dentistry (FAGD) in 2021 after completing 500+ hours of continuing education and passing a rigorous 400-question examination. The FAGD credential is held by fewer than 7% of practicing dentists in the United States and reflects a sustained commitment to clinical excellence across every major area of dentistry.

Her advanced training includes certification in Invisalign, giving her the tools to deliver clear aligner treatment in-house, as well as dedicated coursework in craniofacial sleep medicine and the non-surgical treatment of sleep-disordered breathing. This focus on airway health informs a significant part of her current practice, where she uses a pharyngometer and rhinometer to objectively evaluate airway function and create highly individualized sleep apnea treatment plans for patients.

A Commitment to Research and Evidence-Based Care

Dr. Green’s approach to dentistry is shaped by more than clinical experience. She has been an active participant and Clinical Investigator with the National Dental Practice-Based Research Network (National Dental PBRN), contributing to multiple NIH/NIDCR-funded studies over nearly a decade. Her research involvement spans investigations into post-operative pain outcomes, root canal treatment predictors, oral cancer screening feasibility, antibiotic prescribing practices, and substance use disorder screening in dental settings.

Published Research and Presentations

In 2017, Dr. Green served as co-author on a study examining opioid prescribing patterns after nonsurgical root canal therapy across a broad range of U.S. practice settings. That research has now been published in The Journal of the American Dental Association (JADA) — one of the most widely read peer-reviewed dental journals in the world. You can read the full article, “Opioid Prescribing After Nonsurgical Root Canal Therapy: Findings from The National Dental Practice-Based Research Network,” published June 2026 in JADA. She has also received a Certificate of Excellence in Clinical Research from the National Dental PBRN in recognition of her contributions to the network.

Her research isn’t just for journals. It directly informs how she cares for patients. Participating in studies on prescribing practices, for instance, has led her to reflect on and refine her own clinical habits, something she sees as an ongoing responsibility rather than a one-time achievement. This evidence-based mindset is part of what makes her restorative dentistry and cosmetic dentistry recommendations so thoughtful and patient-specific.

Creativity, Community, and the Bigger Picture

Dr. Green has always believed that dentistry is about more than teeth. It’s about people. That belief extends well beyond her practice into the community organizations and initiatives she invests her time in as a leader and advocate.

The Girl Choir of South Florida

Since 2020, Dr. Green has served on the Board of Trustees for The Girl Choir of South Florida (GCSF), a nonprofit providing world-class music education to girls and young women in Broward County. She currently serves as Board of Trustees President, a role that involves overseeing the organization’s strategic direction, grant management, and annual budgeting. In 2023, she developed the Legacy Wall and Sponsor Our Space initiatives at GCSF, including a custom installation that features a stylized waveform of her own voice. Her theater background, which stretches back to high school and includes years of special effects makeup and props fabrication, remains very much alive through her behind-the-scenes volunteer work with local community theater nonprofits.

Her commitment to the broader Fort Lauderdale community also takes shape through sponsorships, including support for the Swim Fort Lauderdale Master’s Team and the Florida Children’s Theatre, as well as a new collaboration with Broward College as a featured campus sponsor.
